Holy moly, I love this gate! It’s very cleverly designed so that even when swinging it open/shut, there are not pinch-points for little fingers (which is great, because my toddler likes to practice opening and closing it if it isn’t latched).Other pros:- tall enough my dog (50# lab/husky) won’t jump it- still enough room left in doorway for me to lift high-chair over the top easily (it won’t fit through the width of the gate)- can latch & unlatch it with one hand- easy to install and VERY sturdy (when it is locked, toddler likes to yank & rattle the bars like she’s in some sort of jailhouse comedy scene)- gate swings wide, so you can keep it out of the way when it’s openLiterally, my only con is that the bar at the base (along the floor) means the Roomba no longer goes through that doorway and I have to carry it into the kitchen if I want that room vacuumed. However, that is a very small issue, and totally worth the trade-off for all the other easy features of the gate, in my opinion.

We bought two of these as pet gates, and although our nimble calico can jump to the top and drop on the other side, that’s no fault of the manufacturer. :)These are constructed of welded square steel tubing, and as an engineer I’m very happy with the quality of the welds, the type of finish (a hard, durable gloss paint that is easy to clean and scratch-resistant), and the overall design. They’re easy to assemble, requiring no tools for a pressure-fit installation and only a screwdriver (and maybe a cordless drill) for semi-permanent mounting.I have a couple of very small negative remarks, but these are insignificant enough (for us, at least) that I am still giving five stars.1. At the bottom of the moving gate section, there is a dropdown plastic tab to provide extra resistance at the bottom in case a toddler or a larger pet tried to bend the bottom aside to squeeze through. This is no doubt a safety feature, but we occasionally have a problem with that tab dropping down when not intended, so one has to flip it back up to open the gate. I may simply remove that tab since we don’t need it for the cats.2. The 4″ extensions work well (one comes with each package), but if the opening is just a little narrower than an extension will fit, the situation will be that the threaded pads extend far enough to leave a cat-sized gap along the side. I’ve worked around this by using a [nominal] 2×2 board pressure-fit between one side of the gate and the door frame. It works fine, but I would be thrilled if the manufacturer offered a 2″ extension for those in-between situations. Longer term, I am going to try shortening one of our extensions by trimming the tip of the horizontal tubing and moving the plastic insert to the new end. (Obviously that will void the warranty, so if you try this, you do so at your own risk.)I’m still giving the product five stars because these are small issues that don’t detract from the quality, and since the product does everything it’s advertised to do. In an era of corners being cut and cut and cut in consumer products, as an engineer I’m always happy to find something that’s built to last. This gate is definitely built to last.Despite the minor issue with the extra safety tab at the bottom, the locking mechanism at the top is very convenient to use and yet secure against accidental unlocking. Since we’re using the gate for pets and not children, we’re able to treat the hold-down clip as optional; for pet-gate use the locking feature will stay secure with the lever down but not clipped. I don’t recommend this for use with human children, of course. Our cats are clever but don’t have opposable thumbs.I wish the company made a taller version, because we do need at least one that the calico can’t hop over, but the product as designed and as specified does everything it claims and is a good value.

We are keeping a large dog in “his room” when we have company. He’s a big friendly animal but a bit too much dog for some company. This gate allows him to feel a part of the party but safely out of the way of little ones and older folks. The gate seems flimsy when removed from the box but is quite sturdy when installed (4 screws in your door frame) with tension holding it tight. The height is just what we needed. The door latch works easily but as someone mentioned it’s close to doorknob height. Our doorknob is a lever, not a round knob, which can be opened either up or down, so it works for us on the rare occasion that we have to close the door AND use the gate. I would think it’s sturdy enough for young children. Installed quickly and easily.

It’s super adjustable making it good for several sizes of doorways. It super sturdy! We use it for our dog and it’s perfect! I love that is so tall so I don’t have to worry about him jumping over it!

I absolutely love this baby gate! I have a chihuahua that will jump clear over the standard sized baby gates, so I decided to try this extra tall walk through gate. We have had it almost a month now and so far she has not been able to jump this one. The only down side is the space between the wall and the bars is a little to wide and we have a couple of tiny chihuahua’s that can walk right through. Although, you can modify easily with a thick poster board from Walmart and white duck tape. (not the most professional job but it does the trick) I would recommend this product and will be purchasing more!

5 years ago I bought this gate for the apartment I lived in for my 2 year old bull mastiff that weighed 76 pounds, and it held up great! I worried that it wouldn’t be sturdy enough just by reading other gates product reviews ending in nightmares that said their dogs easily broke through them and destroyed homes or bit humans. I searched and compared reviews of about 30 other gates with same or similar strength/durability and specs. I decided to go with this one because it had more positive reviews for the things I wanted and cared for most in a gate than the really bad negative reviews it had on things I wanted but that I could deal with assuming they were valid and weren’t written by cause of user error…like doesn’t work, hard to assemble, the latch is faulty by design, bad instructions etc. I took it with me to the house I bought a year later and was happy that it fit in a much wider door frame without needing the the extension piece it came with that I never used and was somewhere in the unpacked moving boxes still in the garage. I still had my bull mastiff at the time and ended up getting him a friend and she was a 2 month old APBT. It’s been about 5 years now having this gate that has held up very well against a now 7 year old 98 pound bull mastiff and a 4 year old 48 pound short and stocky APBT. I had always wished for another extra gate to have since my house was a lot bigger and to be able to separate the dogs conveniently indoors when I wanted to. But I just never got around to getting it. Today, I searched my history for it and bought another one because my parents have a 9 month old Chiweenie that visits me frequently and that I train. She is a very good jumper with high energy and she jumps and climbs over their gates and can get through some of them because she fits through the bars. She can’t climb or jump over this one and she can’t get through it.So here I am again buying a 2nd one and I’m sooo glad they still have it in stock and I LOVE the PRICE! Installation was easy as long as you thoroughly read all the directions and follow them. Instructions were included and easy to follow. All parts were included including the extension, and the latch is not faulty or hard to operate either, even one handed. Small kids won’t be able to open it either because there is a tug back and raise feature to the latch lock system. The surface has held up well against my dogs and no paint scratches or chips have appeared from their use on it. I’ve had to buy new tension pressure screws because the rubber molds around the end that holds against the door frame had worn off eventually falling off over the years, which does make it less secure and can scuff your paint too. But I only needed them just a year ago, but never used them because I packed them up accidentally and put the box in the garage with several other boxes that live in the garage, and couldn’t find them. So I bought these rubber protective cups to maintain the pressure tightness and to save my paint. See my pics. Neither solutions costed much either. If you ever need to buy replacements just make sure they are the same and correct length because they do come in various sizes. The picture in my review is of this gate that I bought 5 years ago so you can see how it’s held up so far and those rubber cups that I use between the tension screw and the inside of my door frame.I hope my review has been helpful to you in order to help you decide which is the right gate for you, your home and needs of use.

I originally bought this for my parents to keep an elderly, blind dog out of certain parts of their house. It was perfect height and dad and I installed it using the twist screws without actually drilling anchors in the wall. We think it still worked great, and periodically I just checked to make sure it was still twisted to the tightest point where screw part was. We didn’t need the extender part. This way it was easy to remove when my parents moved out. My baby sister inherited this so it got a second home, and she uses for containing her two dogs and keeping from areas of the house that needed to be dog-free. She likes it better than another brand dog door she has used before. Definitely, a two thumbs up rating for this.

We wanted to keep our puppy from going down the hallway without permission. The first gate we bought didn’t work because our baseboard stick out so far. Returned it and got this one. Have had it for over a month now and have had no issues. It fits great in the hallway opening, stays upright and not easy to push over. The first few weeks she was small enough to fit through the space between the wall and the first section of gate. Luckily we were already planning on getting her fixed, and two weeks with an inflatable cone kept her from fitting. Now she’s gained enough weight that only her head fits. It’s sturdy and dependable; highly recommend

We got this originally for my son to stay out of the kitchen when he started walking and crawling but still use it (4 years later) to keep the dogs out of the kitchen now too! It’s held up wonderfully and it just as strong as it was when we first installed it. It was so easy to put up and is super easy to go in and out. The size is perfect and it matched everything really well too. I love it.

We have this gate set up so that our cats no longer have access to the kitchen, so far it’s worked pretty well! keeps the cats out! Kitchen stays clean👏 I also saw someone leave a photo review where they hung water spray bottle on the gate, using that can help to discipline them if they try to jump over.Overall the gate does its job, easy to build (the gap closes, gate will work fine once installed),it has 2 different locks, and it also works unlocked.
