We bought this night light when our 2-year-old started taking apart the regular table lamp in her room. So, first on the list was something child-proof — check! Batteries are accessible only by taking out the tiny screws in the lid on the bottom. Unless she somehow learns to correctly use a small screwdriver (ha!), there is no way she is taking this apart. Good. This runs on 3 AAA batteries, and after 8 months of using it every single day, it is still going on the original set. Even if I had to replace them by now, I would say it is very worth it because the light can be put anywhere. In the bed, on the bed shelf, on the dresser…it moves around a lot. Camping? No problem! Just bring it and it’s another comfort of home right there with us. Plus, I used it myself to see in the tent without waking her up! It’s also very easy to pack when we stay at someone else’s house. Same reasons as camping. This is why I can honestly say we use it every single day.Other things I like:–It is durable. Little girl has hardwood floors in her room, and the owl has had its fair share of falls. But there are no cracks and it still works just fine. Some of the paint on the eyes/beak has rubbed off, but we don’t mind.–The automatic shut off. I love it. I wish more lights had this. Saves battery life, and one less thing for me to worry about. 20 minutes has been a good time, too, and if my girl is still awake, she easily turns it back on for another 20.–LED light means it does not get too warm…safe to snuggle with, even under blankets.–The handle is perfect for her (or me) to carry it around easily.–It is just plain cute! And my little girl loved it right from the start because of that. The actual light it gives is white and brighter than most night lights, but not as bright as a regular lamp. This is a positive/negative thing for me. I like that the light is nice and mellow and not so bright that it is distracting. But my little girl recently likes to look at her books in bed, and this light just isn’t quite bright enough for that, unless it’s extremely close to the page, which is hard for a toddler to manage while lying down. She just can’t look at books with this light. So, I am looking for something brighter now, and she will probably end up using both. Maybe we can try another plug-in lamp now that she is getting older. I still give this 5 stars though, because it has been so good during this time — it has been a daily must-have item, along with her pillow and special blanket. And it is not even very expensive, in my opinion, considering the use it has had. If I could find one exactly like this but brighter (and similarly well priced), I would buy it in a second.

My 3 year old daughter loves this nightlight! We bought it for her to transition her out the need to leave the overhead light on to fall asleep. We were moving her 13 mo sister into her room and needed to make sure the room was dark enough for the baby to be able to sleep. Thankfully our goal proved successful and once she started using the nightlight she didn’t ask us to leave the big light on, especially since we had her “practice” turning the light on and off in the dark several times so that she felt confident she would be ok if she was still awake when the light automatically shut off. I am glad that the light shuts off because I know it is better to sleep in all darkness than with a night light. The light actually has a nice glow. It’s a good brightness and the radius doesn’t extend too far. It’s bright enough that when the house is dark we can see under our door that our daughter is approaching the room as she carries the nightlight. Yet it’s not so bright that it bothers her younger sister sleeping in the same room. We have the girls’ beds in an L shape with a tall dresser separating them, so the little one is not too affected by the glow. She too loves the night light and can press the button on and off, but her sister doesn’t like her to play with it! I guess when she’s old enough to “need” a night light then we’ll get her the same one.One thing I do wish is that the material of the night light were that clear gummy-type stuff and not a hard plastic, since the light does make a loud clattering sound on our hardwood floor when it falls out of my daughter’s bed. I’m always afraid the girls will wake when I hear it happen. Nevertheless, the plastic must be pretty durable since it has yet to break. Our daughter did throw it across the room once so that the battery cover got a little jammed and a screw came out. Now when the battery cover is bumped it might trigger the button to turn off the light, but the light turns right back on when you press the button. I don’t consider this little malfunction to be a fault of the night light, but of my daughter.I give this five stars because it is functional, practical, wholesome, and cute! + Functional: The light does what it’s supposed to do. + Practical: The light is a nice size and the handle is great for carrying around.+ Wholesome: The light encourages healthy sleep habits by turning off after 20 minutes.+ Cute: I love that the owl design is cute but not too “cutesy,” and that it is whitish-clear in color and will therefore blend in with any room design and appeal to either gender.

My kids have had these for a couple years now. They are currently 4 and 5. Bright but not too bright. Turns itself off after 20 mins or so if they get left on. Easy to carry around. Cute.

Great toddler flash light! My child is able to turn it on/off. It’s quite sturdy as it’s been dropped a few times. It is very bright, so it isn’t used in bed as planned but is a great toy for tent/dark room play!

My 3 yr old son loves this! It gives him the security to stay in his own bed all night without bright lights on in the room. It’s just the right size for him to hold and to carry into bed. He keeps it propped against the wall next to the bed or against his pillow. It’s very nicely made and smooth, no sharp or rough edges. As others have mentioned, the power switch is a tiny button on the bottom of the owl, and it is slightly recessed. It is tricky for me to turn it on and off, and I am a medium-sized adult woman with average fingers and good dexterity. My son however has no problem turning it on and off. Usually he just turns it on and lets it turn off by the 20 minute timer after he falls asleep. He keeps it nearby, within arm’s reach, so he can turn it on without getting up if he wakes in the night. I like having it next to (or on) his bed instead of a plug-in nightlight that might attract him to the wall outlet, and instead of a table lamp with a cord and plug, that might get tangled around him or that also might somehow get him interested in the wall outlet. Instead he has his little friendly owl, who is just the right size and can be easily carried along if we go on vacation or on an overnight trip away from home. The light is a soft white light, and is so faint in the daytime that it’s hard to tell if the lantern is on. At night however it’s quite bright and easily lights the bed and the area immediately around the bed, with a soft glow. We love this adorable lantern and it’s nice that it’s wipe-clean as well. No dust or grunge to worry about as time goes on. The price is right, too. We may order another one, just in case something happens to the one we have now!

The media could not be loaded. This night light is great because it’s easy for a toddler to use. There is a button at the bottom and it times out after a while if your child falls asleep. I highly recommend !

Well, it does die eventually. But I think we replace the batteries maybe twice a year? It will just grow dimmer and dimmer until the batteries finally give out. We bought one of these several years ago for our then toddler. It is just bright enough for a little late night reading, but not so bright that it will interfere with your child dropping off to sleep. The light is a cool white, but muted by the translucent cover. It is simple to operate and turns off after 20 minutes to conserve battery. The handle makes it easy for kids to tote around. We just purchased a second one for another child after a “fancy” silicone nightlight didn’t live up to expectations. This is half the price of that other one and we knew it would be reliable. Sure, it doesn’t change colors, and it is made of hard plastic – not squishy silicone, but it WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. Because the last thing you want when you finally get a kid down to bed is for them to get up again because their nightlight is out of battery…That first nightlight is still going strong years later, and we know this second one will last us too.

Our children (5, 4, and 2) each have one of these. One we’ve had for 3 years and it’s still working. We recently lost one on a trip and so we bought again. I love that the batteries are behind a screwed in cover, it turns off on its own in about 20 minutes, and the on/off button is easy enough for little hands. We do replace the batteries about every 6 weeks to keep them bright enough for being a reading light but otherwise they last dimly for months.

It is so cute love that in 20 minutes it turns off

I was just searching my orders and this came up, reminding me that we bought it in April 2017 when my daughter was 1.5yo. She is now about to turn 8 and she still has the same light which we use every night. I may be forgetting, but I swear I’ve only changed the battery twice. She lovingly calls it “Owl” (she’s not the most creative…) and we even take him with us on trips. Originally I bought it as a light in her crib so she could “read” books in the morning and stay quiet a little longer. She was quickly able to push the button. It’s not a crazy bright light, bright enough to see clearly and get around, but still soft enough for a kids nightlight. When we had difficult nights of “i cant sleep,” our rule was always to turn Owl back on and if she was still awake when Owl turned off, she could come back out of her room and I’d read another book. Nothing makes you fall asleep faster than trying to stay awake!! I love this light – it will be something I never get rid of and keep long after she has moved on (if she doesnt take him with her!! Hahah)
