    The materials feel a little cheap, but I’ve had this thing for a while now and dropped it a few times but its still perfect. It has multiple color modes, and a kind of strobing color mode that combines all of the colors together which is really pretty and cool to look at. Its not super bright to the point you can’t sleep with it on either, so if you’re using it for a night light it will definitely work.I’ve personally never used the batteries, I’ve always just plugged it into a wall or usb on a computer or something, so I have no idea how this thing drains batteries or whatever. However, I’ve left it on for over a week straight plugged into the wall and it never burnt out or anything. Overall its definitely worth the money and is great to give as a gift.

    This thing feels cheap like it’s going to break. However, it’s held strong since we got it. Our son has to have this with him every night to sleep so we traveled with it 1300 miles on an airplane & it held strong there, back & at home every night since. I recommend!Update: we are a few months out from purchasing and the spinning motion has slowed down exponentially. Ill assume its going to stop completely in the next day or two like other posters had mentioned. Lights still work so its ok but I’m disappointed the motor is failing so soon.

    This was a gift for my boyfriend. I got the purple shell for him. He has told everyone time after time, “my girlfriend got me the BEST present ever” and begins to explain the device.1. This device comes with a cover, don’t forget you need to take the cover off to use it/see the stars2. The stars can rotate, or be kept still by the push of a button.3. There are MANY different color combinations that can be used.4. This device seems to be one of few that DOES NOT have an auto-shut-off timer. The shut-off timers freaked me out a little bit when purchasing because it made me think the device got too hot after a certain point and may cause a fire. This device we have left on overnight pretty much every night and there have been no problems. We shut it off the moment we wake up in the morning and it stays off all day.5. This device needs to be used in a dark room if you want to see all the stars. That being said, it makes an excellent night light. It is also “better” in a larger room. The rooms we have used it in are about 15×10 (which covered ceiling and walls), and ~30×15 (with slants in the room which covered the entire ceiling). The projection from the device is amazing.6. There are 3 moons. This kind of freaked us out upon initial usage, but it’s actually pretty cool. When in motion, everything rotates in a pattern.7. There is a small motor that makes slight white noise. I would describe it as when you wind up a music box and you’re waiting for the music to start. You are just hearing the gears working. My boyfriend is an electrical engineer, so we actually find comfort in the sound.8. FYI, my boyfriend has even dropped it upon unplugging it from the wall and moving it and it’s still functioning fine, bulbs, motor, and all.If anything did happen to the device, it seems relatively fixable (again, my boyfriend is handy and an EE so the parts in this device are things he works with on a regular basis, and he was even talking about making his own). I highly recommend this purchase. I’m hoping this device lasts while but I am considering purchasing a back up to keep in storage because of how much he loves this star lamp.
