This was more than I wanted to spend
but it has helped educate our daughter on when it’s time for bed. It automatically turns blue when it’s time to start getting ready for bed (ours is set for 7;45pm with no sound but you can set your own time and sound if you want to use the program mode) and it will stay blue until 6:45am it will fade to yellow which means it’s daytime and ok to leave the room. It will turn off completely at 9am. (Full disclosure: we use this in conjunction with a monkey hook and talking to her through baby monitor to train her)Again this is our mode that we chose in the program you can customize it to whatever you want. I only use the sounds on this machine during nap time which you can also program (6 “favorites” settings not including the general programming). Sounds can get very loud if you want it to – more like a stereo than a sound machine lol. We have Bluetooth version because we have crappy WiFi. YES it has a far reach. Right when we get home (let’s say 8pm) it is already on when we get upstairs. Never had connection issues. My husband and I both have the app and share 1 log in. This way it will always be connected since at least one of us are always home. The app has never logged me out unless I deleted it and reinstalled it.Downsides:There is a toddler proof setting(kiddo can’t change things manually it’s locked on your end) on it as well but I believe you can only use it if you opted for that in the settings for general programming. Also they have different time settingFeatures when you do your programming. For example I want to set a time for 3pm and end at 5pm. The set option will have a scroll list of times. But the end time looks like a timer.. like it wants you to calculate how many minutes until you want it to end. It’s not a big deal but it annoys me. Overall Worth every penny!

We love using the Hatch for a sound machine and night light for my kids. We bought our first one two years ago when my son was born and we loved it so much we bought another one when my second son was born. The app is easy to use and it always works seamlessly with my phone’s Bluetooth. It’s very easy to pack up, we take it with us every time we travel. Just plug it in and sync with your phone and it starts working. This second Gen now has a clock on it which is very helpful. The tap feature on top is the best, I just tap it once after tucking in each kid and it’s on the setting I programed. The sound can range very quite to pretty loud so it works in any setting. Same with the brightness, you can keep it very dim or it can almost light up the entire bedroom. This is a item I can say we use every single night!

This is my first ever Amazon review, but I loved this product so much that I felt I had to share my experience! I bought this out of sheer desperation simply for the “ok to wake” function. My 18 month old had been waking between 5 and 6am for over 6 months, and literally nothing I did helped him sleep any later. We already had a cheap white noise machine, so when I first heard of this product, I balked at the price, thinking I didn’t need it for the other features. I first purchased a cheaper “ok to wake” product, but found it difficult to operate, and poorly designed and made. I finally purchased the Hatch Rest, thinking if it didn’t work out, at least Amazon would let me return it.Now, I had serious doubts about my 18 month old’s ability to understand and abide by the “ok to wake” concept. But mom needs a little time to herself in the morning, so I was willing to give it a shot despite my reservations. The beauty of this product is the app and Bluetooth capability. I set the clock for 6am the first night and told my son that when the light turned green in the morning, he could get up for the day. For the record, my 18 month old can only say about 10 words… but he seems to comprehend a lot. The next morning, he woke at 5:30. I wasn’t about to let him cry for 30 long minutes, so I opened the app, changed the wake up time to 5:35, and then when the light turned on, went into his room and did a big dramatic wake up. I said, “look, your light is green, that means it’s time to wake up!” I then turned on the lights, threw open the curtains… made a big deal of it. Over the next few days, I gradually set the clock back little by little, and he started sleeping a little later each day. After a week, I was able to set the clock to 7:30 (my ideal wake up time for him). He woke the first few days a little earlier, and I would just tell him through the baby monitor talk function that his light wasn’t green, and I kid you not— he laid down and went back to sleep until the light came on. Now if he wakes a few minutes early, he just plays in his crib and waits for the light. I can’t believe that this worked, but it did. And now I feel like I have to spread the word!I actually loved this so much, that I bought a 2nd one for my 3 year old. He loves it. He plays in his room until his light comes on at 7:30, and also stays in his room to play or look at books during “quiet time” in the afternoon. He loves choosing a nightlight color and sound on the app every night. I truly cannot say enough positive things about this product… try it!

**UPDATE**About 2 months ago, I received a notice that the Hatch Baby Rest has been update and they sent us a new one because they want to ensure customers have the best (First note – that is just EXCELLENT customer service). I must say, it is amazing! Almost all previous notes had been addressed!1. Range of volume is significantly more broadThis made a difference, especially with time. As my son got older, I am starting to lower the volume so he gets used to silence but also not rely on the Hatch Baby. JUST as I felt like the lowest volume on the previous model was fine, but slightly on the louder side, they sent this updated version which not only has a wider range, but I still have room to lower the volume even more in the future.2. They changed the plug adapter. Previously it was like a phone charger. Now it is a real adapter which is sturdier, more secure and less likely to get yanked out by my child.3. The app is a lot more user friendly and customizable. It is still simple but before the update, it may have been TOO simple. The only thing I’d wish they’d do is make shortcuts to my favorites. For example, when I set the schedule, you have to set the volume and light brightness, but I wish I could just set my favorite setting during that schedule.4. THE FADE! I mentioned before how it transitioned very abruptly and I wished it would have been smooth – they fixed it!5. Lastly, they did NOT address the light. Which I think may just be preference. Currently this device is meant to be a night light. It does just that. I wished there could be a ‘night light’ setting and ‘lamp’ setting that I could switch back and forth from and also had brightness levels. Sometimes I need to change his diaper in the middle of the night and would like to be able to see without turning on the light and this would be helpful. Other than that, works just as a night light which is nice to see the room as I shuffle around.*previous review*I never write reviews, however, I love this product so much, I really want to provide some feedback so if the company ever chooses to update, these are really easy features to add to make it even more spectacular. (note: my son is 3.5 months)(1) multi function: a. night light PROs: has several color options. this may not be a big deal for others, but the fact that orange, red and yellow hues enhance and help sleep for both baby and me is a major plus. then green and blue are cool tones that help with waking up (for me now while the baby is young, and then for him when he’s a little older). then with the cute sleeves to add later, i think the color options would help with his development visually and mentally CONs: light is not bright enough depending on size of room. i switched rooms and in our master the light was so low at the highest setting i couldn’t see to breastfeed in the middle of the night (let alone change a diaper!). i ended up having to add back my lamp that has a baby sensitive bulb just to see. would be nice of it had more of a range and could functions as a lamp in addition to night light mode. (i will say though, in the nursery, the light was JUST right at the highest setting) b. sound machine PROs: NOT ON A LOOP, which is a big deal. i’ve had to return a previous device because it was on a loop and i could hear the click with my sensitive ears. there are also several options in noises, and my son really enjoys the soothing music to wake up to. all the noises are naturally recorded rather than electronically made so it’s realistic CONs: there is a lot of opportunity here! when the device turns on or off and even when i change from one sound to another, it is VERY abrupt. i wished there was a fade in / out when turned on / off, or a smooth transition from one sound to another when switching. some times my son is asleep and i am stepping out of the room so i turn on the Rest, i have to move very fast to turn the sound all the way down and manually fade it in so not to shock him awake. i’ve also read other reviews that when the device is on all night, it has defects where the volume changes randomly – this happened to me too. i though i had a defected unit and called amazon for a replacement, the new one does it too! (here’s the kicker, when mine adjusts the volume by itself, it does it as a fade! so it can be done!). lastly, i wished there was also ‘heartbeat’, ‘vacuum’ and ‘stove fan’.(2) control options:a. top ring: such a clean look and powerful speaker with a single ring you and turn the device on / off by. it is VERY sensitive though, so be careful not to bump into it when the baby is sleeping or it will switch to your next ‘favorite’ settingb. base controls: nicely hidden from your child if they’re very curious and can be ‘toddler locked’ from your phonec. bluetooth from your phone: this is what won me over. in the middle of the night when you are sleep deprived, and you just want to adjust the volume…..SOLD. HOWEVER, note that all reviews have a warning that this is BLUETOOTH and not WIFI so i’ve noticed i will need to be like 10ft from the Rest in order to control it. this is a bit frustrating since it is supposed to be 30ft and i can’t even control the volume from the bedroom door…. also ‘favorites’ can only be activated by the top ring, you cannot select a ‘favorite’ from your phone to play…..not cooloverall, i love this device and look forward to using it for the years to come!one feature i’m not sure if it’s possible, but since it is already connect via bluetooth, if i could play my own music as well such as mini dance parties or youtube itsy bitsy spider or whatnot, that would put this over the top!!!

It took us around 2 weeks to train our 2yo. After consistently telling them: “red light sleep, green light up, and mommy/daddy will come to you when the green light is up,” they now stays in bed every morning until we are ready for the morning!!! You do need to insist not going into the room when the light is red and bearing with the cry a bit, but it takes only a few days. They also feel more in control since he can tell if it’s sleep time or wake up time easily. It’s a bit of investment, but it worths the money! We now get to control our morning time much better and can predict the number of hours we can sleep better 🙂

  6. JessJess

This is the ONLY thing that gets my toddler to understand quiet time and that if he wakes up early he can play but stay in his room till I turn the light green. You can set automatic timers also.I bought one for the new baby for the sounds and the dim lights for his room so I can check on him without waking him up. I LOVE that you can control the dimness.Just go ahead and get one

  7. Cameron S.

I know the price tag is high but this is a lot more than just a sound machine. I like the added features where they say small stories and play lullabies as well. It’s great for winding down my toddler before bed and something she looks forward to every night because it’s not just another story from mom and dad. Otherwise it’s just nice to be able to control from my phone to adjust the colors, sound and volume. We have been starting the color learning where she stays in her room until it’s a certain color (time) and it’s been helpful so she knows what’s going on.

  8. Leslie Hernandez

We bought this in hopes it’ll help my 5 year old sleep in his own room on his own. So far so good!! He loves the bedtime stories and mindfulness exercises at the end of the night and the rain white noise. Helps him fall asleep so easy! Granted you do have to pay I think $49.99/ year to get access to it all but in my opinion it’s so worth it!

  9. HaoleD

Fabulous! Stop scrolling and get this one. It’s a little more expensive than others, but it is 100% worth it. There’s an app for setting up the clock. Yay! It says to give about 10 minutes for set up. I played around with it a lot and had two schedules set up and ready to go in 15 minutes. I was able to program in different wake up times for different days of the week along with different amounts of play quietly time. (Please play quietly just a bit later on the weekend. This Mama needs it!) Music and color changes allow for alerting the kiddos between sleep time, play quietly, and okay to get up. You can adjust the volume and brightness of the light. Loud and bright on days we have places to be and quiet and dim on days we can sleep in a bit. Live in a place where they make you change the time an hour twice a year? No problem. The app has a button for that. Bam! The hour just changed. Schedule changes are super easy to adjust for. When I set my alarm I can go into the Hatch app an make any needed changes. There is a paid membership that you can add to your Hatch. I did not join or use any of the free trial. I was able to set up and use without adding anything. They do look pretty cute and I may become hooked after trying the 30 day free trial. Currently practicing restraint. For reference this isn’t the first time-to-rise clock I’ve used. I purchased a cheaper clock a few years ago to teach my oldest when it was okay to get up when we transitioned her out of her crib. It had a sun and moon to tell her when she could get out of bed. My daughter was pretty good about following it, but making a change on it involved lots of button pushes in the right order. Changing the time on the clock, when it was okay to get up, etc. was too involved for me to keep up with everything I was hoping the clock could do. It became pretty basic use for weekends only. Also, kiddo #2 wasn’t as observant of the moon vs. sun. This one needed something a bit more obvious.

  10. Heather TorresHeather Torres

I love my hatch so much I bought a second one. Controlling it on my phone is the best. I even took it with us traveling. You literally can’t ask for a better kids light/sound machine.
