Baby monitors…one of the items parents spend a lot of time looking into and easily getting frustrated about. Should I get sound only, a video monitor, wifi enabled, FHSS or smart features? Take some time and decide what features best fit your needs before you register or buy a product you might end up hating down the road.We decided right off the bat that we wanted video capabilities so that filtered us down to FHSS systems or wifi based smart cameras. I will say right off the bat both have their pros and cons and I want to explain them a little before I give a review of the product because those reasons are why we went with this product. If you do go with a wifi enabled smart camera (Nest, Arlo etc) I recommend getting a camera that is designed for babies in mind. We got the Arlo Baby and really liked it because it was really designed for a nursery with climate warnings (tempature, humidity, pollution), crying and motion alarms, two-way talk, night light, music, and easily paired to my Alexa devices. Then of course being connected to wifi so that I could see the nursery from anywhere on my smart phone via the app.BUT, there are some downsides to wifi cameras like these. More spotty connectivity. If the internet goes down so does the camera. Hacking concerns (really did not concern me) if privacy is your issue and for me what became my biggest issue was network setup. I am a pretty tech savvy person and I had a lot of trouble getting this onto my network for reasons I still don’t understand (Apple’s HomeKit might be the culprit…though I don’t use their HomeKit). But this also means if you travel…maybe for the holidays to the in-laws, in order for this camera to work you have to get it setup onto their wifi network. No Wi-Fi, no camera. Wifi pairing issues? No camera. Or maybe you’re going to have your parents watch the baby for a day or two. In order for them to access the camera they need to download the app and either login into you account or you have to set them up as an authorized user. Parents don’t have a smart phone? No camera. So I LOVE this camera for at home, even with the occasional signal issues and I think smart cameras are fantastic in the long term for the nursery especially as the baby gets older and is moving. But when you’re dealing with a newborn and an infant having something that is easily setup in a matter of seconds that works is really beneficial.Enter this review. I was very close to going with the Infant Optics DXR-8. If you’ve looked at any reviews you will see it consistently at the top of the list. It’s been around for awhile and is the go-to monitor in the mid-price range. But in a few review websites I saw the Eufy win out and it got me curious. If feels like a direct competitor to the DXR-8, with the same price and from what I can tell nearly identical features and IMO some improvements. Both are closed networks using FHSS which is more reliable than wifi. So check for both. BUT DXR-8 runs on a 2.4Ghz and I’ve read that this can cause interference issues if you’re running other devices on your 2.4Ghz wifi. Just something to think about. Both have cameras that can pan and tilt. Eufy wins on pan (330 vs 270 degrees) and DXR-8 wins on tilt (110 vs 120 degrees)Both have attachable wide angle lenses and can zoom in. The DXR-8 wins on range at 700ft. BUT with 460ft in the Eufy I have no issues in a medium sized house (two story, 2400sqft).Both have night vision which is critical. Both also have very similar features like temperature readings and alerts. I honestly don’t really care about either and it’s not a deal breaker regardless. So where does the Eufy outshine the DXR-8? The monitor and screen. the DXR-8 is 3.5″ and the resolution is only 240p. For as much praise as the DXR-8 gets that resolution surprised me. Some won’t care but I like to watch my kid breathing since he’s a stomach sleeper and I’m irrationally paranoid about SIDS. After watching several user reviews I was just overall disappointed with the screen quality of the DXR-8. The Eufy however boasts a much larger 5″ screen with a 720p resolution. It’s not as clear as a smart phone per say but it is very nice and that screen size really helps. User navigation and design is also much simpler and cleaner on the Eufy. Overall product design is just much cleaner as well. Then there is battery life, the one consistent complaint I’ve read about the DXR-8. They boast 6 hrs of on-screen mode and 10 hrs in power saving mode. Most friends I know who use the DXR-8 get no more than 4 hours and are on their second or third battery. Honestly they look like the cheap lithium ions I put in my mini drone. I can’t comment on the quality of the Eufy battery and the one downside is it’s not user replaceable. But it claims to have a battery life of 7 hours display and 15 hours in power saving mode. and as of now I’ve read no complaints to indicate similar battery issues at the DXR-8.If you want a smart app features, or the ability to record then Eufy is not the camera for you. This camera is about simplicity and at this point it’s absolutely perfect. I just need something to watch my kid and let me know he’s awake, asleep or not in distress. There is ZERO SETUP. Plug them in and instantly paired….which makes travel a breeze. I’ve experienced almost no lag or connection issues and compared to most dedicated video monitors this has one of the better screens I’ve seen.If I have issues I will update this review, but for now I highly recommend this camera and give it the edge IMO over the DRX-8 if you are on the fence about them like I was.EDIT 7/21: both camera still work very well. Eufy has remained my primary. I still enjoy the Arlo a lot and I believe a firmware update helped solve my connection issues. Eufy is still the easier one to connect since it isn’t smart. The big downer on my Arlo smart camera…a lag of about 10-20 seconds. That lag wasn’t quite as significant when I first bought it. Food for thought.

After owning this model for about a year and having just dealt with a warranty issue, I thought I should post a review of my experiences.First off, in terms of usability and performance, I’ve always been absolutely satisfied with the unit…the connection is reasonably stable, and when it does disconnect from interference (such as if you’re using a microwave), it will reconnect right away without issue.Great that you can charge the screen with any USB power bank, so you’re never left worrying about battery life; and the motorized tilt and pan camera feature accessible remotely from the screen is an added bonus.Picture quality is good enough to see what’s going on with your little one, and night vision comes in handy.I did have one problem that required a warranty replacement, which turned out to be quite a hassle at first due to several mix ups and mishaps.BUT, at the end, Eufy support came through and made me whole again with a fully functioning replacement monitor/camera set.I just wanted to add this for those of you considering this setup, because one of the reasons I bought this unit was due to the fact that Eufy is owned by Anker, and I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Anker, so I assumed that this would be the same for Eufy. This turned out to be true, as at the end of the day, they definitely still stand behind the products they sell, and won’t leave you high and dry when problems arise.Overall, I am satisfied with the unit and support, and would definitely not hesitate to purchase one again.Last note, if you’re not in a hurry, keep an eye out for sales on this unit as it seems to go on sale every now and then!

I never realized that baby monitors were so out of date with current technology until i had my own child and started looking into these… All those motorola ones and the infant optics, its all crap and looks like the same model of technology we used in 2002. Just terrible. Then i ran across the Eufy and it was only a few months into the market when i found it about a year ago and it is the best monitor available, hands-down! Granted i never looked into the wifi enabled baby monitors but i didnt care to and chance some weirdo hacking my system or have to worry about finding a decent wifi connection at friends houses we traveled to, hotels, etc.I’m a big advocate of doing my due-diligence and reading reviews prior to purchasing stuff, and i must say that was the key selling point for me & getting the Eufy SpaceView over others. 97% of the reviews about customer service were exceptional and i experienced that first hand myself! After almost 1 year of having the monitor the disply screen battery wasnt holding a charge and always had to be plugged in; i emailed Eufy Customer Service and they responded back within 2 hrs asking for some more details like shipping information, serial # and receipt. I sent that over and within 48hrs they had already shipped me a brand new device & camera at no additional cost without question!! Now THAT is customer service and i genuinely appreciate that!! Customer Service is actually the reason i went from a 4.7 to 5 star rating. So i wanted to leave some truly honest breakdowns in this review I hope you will find useful:1) The picture quality can obviously always be better, i mean we are used to looking at retina-display laptops and 4K 70+” TVs so relax people… Don’t know about 720 resolution all the time as described, but night vision mode is great and this picture is much better than the other monitors so don’t try to compare (because i already did with MANY friends and cousins and it didnt work out for them; they actually ended up buying the Eufy as either their primary or travel monitor because of it!)2) I can personally vouch for the range on this bad boy; we go to my in-laws lake house all the time and I KNOW it travels more than 450ft in open air for sure!! Hell, it takes me 15 minutes to walk back up to the house from the dock just to get to his room so the range is not an issue IN OPEN AIR. However, i will get some dropouts in our bedroom and on our back porch at home but even bluetooth will drop on the other side of our plaster walls from this old house so its not surprising. It will drop for a 1/2 second and reconnect so its not an issue.3) Range of motion in the camera is exactly as they describe, its great and doesnt make any loud noises or anything to wake your baby (not like they can hear anything past the obnoxious blaring white noise machine anyway) :)I have not tried the additional wide angle lens yet as i have not had the need to; maybe when he is a toddler but cant comment on that so far.4) Battery life is great; pretty sure it doesnt go to 15hrs like advertised all the time, but i also have my screen brightness on the highest level majority of the time and the visual picture is always up. I prob should try to turn the visual screen off and use just the audio, but then i’d have to listen to that damn white noise again so i choose the latter.5) Tried the alerts when we first got it and he was weeks old, but didnt really care for it as i found myself constantly checking it anyway and just watching him (i know, weird new dad overwhelming joy) so never found the need for that either., Nor the built in 5 lullaby’s you can play through the camera. I did however try the 2-way voice control and it works, but that is limited to like 30ft or something. Once again, don’t use that feature enough to comment on it and i may when he becomes a little older, but not as of right now.6) Zoom feature is nice and works fine; nothing extravagant about that. That’s pretty much all i have right now and sorry about my rant; too much coffee this AM!Anyway, for the price point, quality of products and customer service that comes with it, 100% this product cannot be beat as of today!!Enjoy and keep up the good work, Eufy Customer Support Team!!

This camera and monitor (and additional camera we added 2.5 years ago with baby #2) has been amazing! Not only has this whole system lasted 3+ years so far…it has lasted 2 toddlers. Unfortunately, due to a freezing incident, liquid incident, a million drops and the latest breaking of the stand, we may be due for a new monitor. BUT everything still works!! I honestly cannot say enough about the durability of this monitor, the clearness and sound on the cameras and the customer service of Eufy. My husband found Eufy 5 years ago when we were looking for new security cameras and ever since we have gotten different Eufy products and have had great luck with the products and if something did happen, customer service took care of it immediately. We had gotten an Owlet camera for our first born and it went in and out so many times and after the 10th time calling about it, my husband finally asked what we needed to do to get a replacement and they finally broke down and sent us one. During that time, about the 4th callback with issues I purchased the Eufy camera/monitor bc I was tired of not being able to see our son. My husband is the only one that will use the dumb Owlets and I have Eufy cameras for both kids now.Like I said, it may be time for us to get a new monitor bc of the broken stand and it hasn’t been quite right since a freezing issue 8 months ago. But technically, it still works and is still going after multiple drops from the toddlers that constantly steal it and have to see the other one sleeping or their own rooms. I’m honestly surprised the monitor lasted this long after how many times my kids dropped, threw and stole it…on top of the usual wear and tear. This particular purchase (2022) was for a gift…our original purchase was in 2020 and additional camera in 2021.

We have a nest camera in the room, but it’s not always reliable because sometimes the Wi-Fi goes out or is spotty. This camera is good quality and I love that you can control the movement of it so you can get different angles if needed. An absolute perfect find for when we will put baby #2 in with her sibling! For now, it gives us peace of mind that we can be away from the room when baby is sleeping and keep an eye on her.

The media could not be loaded.  I have this monitor as well as the infant optics DXR-8 and I can tell you that both of them are great monitors with pros and cons to each. If they combined them into one monitor it would be amazing. Overall we like the Eufy the best and let me tell you why.1) Picture quality is better. Sharper than the infant optics2) larger screen where you don’t have to move the monitor side to side if your baby rolls around and is out of camera view3) night vision is better and has a grey tint vs infant optics has a blue tint (at night even as dim as the infant optics goes it’s still so bright like a night light in my room when I’m trying to sleep) eufys can go dimmer and the light doesn’t bother me when I sleep4) it has a clock !! Having the time on the monitor is a necessity to know when your baby actually falls asleep or what time they wake up in the middle of the night withought having to get your phone. Infant optics doesn’t have the time5) I like the buttons better – they’re just easier to navigate in the dark than the infant optics mostly because they’re separate entities unlike the infant optics where they’re all conjoined next to each other6) VOX setting where you can put the monitor into sleep mode and depending on the noise level you see the monitor on will alert you and put the screen back on if your baby makes noises6) range is definitely better on eufy than infant optics . I have a split ranch and so many times infant optics tells me I’m out of range and I’m literally 100 ft away just in a diff room. They both do come with antennas but I’m not sure how helpful those actually areCons of eufy:1) they really should have a protective case that you could put on it to give it durability .. I mean I’ve dropped it a few times by accident and it’s still good but makes me nervous2) I feel like the volume buttons on top are backwards so that I had to get used to3) other reviews will talk about how in accurate the temp setting is and at first yes it was so inaccurate and kept saying the room was a lot hotter than it actually was but customer service was a gem and helped remedy that situation and now it’s perfect and actually the infant optics temp sensor is about 2 degrees off4) it doesn’t go bright enough so if your outside it’s very difficult to seeThey are both similar in daylight quality of the monitors, offer lullaby, night mode where you can shut the monitor off, non WiFi and a timer which we don’t use and battery life seems to be the samePros of infant optics1) seems more durable – the eufy feels like if I drop it too many times it might break . Equivalent to dropping an iPhone where you wince one eye as you pick it up to see if your screen is broken where infant optics feels like a Nokia2) it has a full 360 view so you can move the toggle left and right and literally go to any part of the room you want to look at even if it’s behind you (eufy can only go so far left and so far right but again the screen is huge)3) when you shut the monitor off for sleep mode the sound is still on so you can still hear if your baby cries (eufys sound shuts off when in sleep mode but offers a VOX setting where if you set the sound level to a certain setting the monitor will come on and alert you that your baby is awake)In a nutshell. We like eufy better . Their customer service is also outstanding although I’ve never dealt with infant optics customer service so they may be great too idk. Basically if Eufy made a case for their monitor I’d feel like it would protect it better and if they made it be able to pan 360 and make the screen brighter it would be the ultimate monitorTake a look at my video that I added to compare (the cameras are set up directly next to each other and the room is completely blacked out)I hope this review helps make your decisions !

After owning the Eufy baby monitor for a while the screen died. I reached out to customer support and they were incredibly helpful. Samantha walked me through potential issues and then ended up replacing the monitor.I love that this monitor doesn’t require wifi — it’s safer for our family and incredibly easy to set up. It’s also great for traveling.I recommended the Eufy to my sister and she loves it too!

  8. Amazon Customer

This baby monitor has saved us so much on having to come back and check on our son every time to make sure he’s sleeping still. We wanted to purchase one just didn’t know which one, we did our research and picked this one because the price seemed great and also the features it provides. You don’t need to download and app doesn’t need to hook up to wifi it’s just simply turn on and go. You can also move the camera with the monitor which is nice. The photo quality is great the noise level is also good. Definitely recommend this for anyone looking.

UPDATED:We reached out to EUFY support a week after leaving the original, upset review (it took that long to find the original box with the warranty info and support email contact). EUFY support responded quickly and were gracious enough to send an entire replacement order (we had only requested a replacement monitor–essentially they threw in a free camera for the hassle). The new monitor was able to connect to the first camera that we already had installed (just had to press the SYNC button on the camera and go to the ‘add camera’ function on the new monitor).I will update this review in three to four months time to confirm that the replacement product remains in working order.Purchased in July of 2022 in preparation for the birth of our first child in December 2022.Was easy to set up and worked marvelously as what I’d describe as a 5 star product until last night (late March 2023).Don’t know what happened; had the monitor on my nightstand and woke up to the baby making some serious noise–not through the monitor, but through the house! Rushed to take care of the little one and upon further inspection, the monitor was powered down… normally I have quite a lot of battery left after one night so I plugged it in and went about my business. When I tried to turn it back on, this is all it does… (see image) it never fully boots. No idea how to troubleshoot this. Came to the Amazon page for a customer service email but seems leaving this rating is the only forum of communication available to me.Willing to believe it is just a random fluke of this particular device but even a 5 star product that gives up the ghost after three months is now a 1 star product in my book. If y’all care about word of mouth sales, I’m the first in my friend group to have a kid, just sayin’.

  10. SamoCocoa

I actually bought 3 monitors (similar price points and functionality) and compared them against each other in similar conditions, in the same house, one at a time (so as not to have any interference from multiple signals), and the Eufy was BY FAR the best!!!Let’s start with the first – the packaging/presentation:- It was clear from the get go that they cared the most about their product just by the care and quality of packaging. It sounds silly, but these things make a difference.Build Quality/Design:- Superb. Doesn’t feel like “cheap” plastic with wonky buttons. it almost feels like a mid-quality smartphone in my hand (which, compared to other monitors would mean a big step up). Antenna snaps into place to lock, kickstand is strong yet simple. Camera is sleek and modern. Even the light underneath the camera is a cool blue LED vs a BRIGHT light. Pretty much what you would expect from a company that makes Smart Home Products).Image quality:- All the other cameras are a 480p, which is fine. Nothing wrong with it… until you get it next to this one with the 720 HD display and camera. The HD picture is just so nice. and then put that with the fact that it’s default view is a wider angle than both other cameras I put it up against. and then when you have the option of even adding a “wide view lens” – it was no comparison.Battery Life:- I plug it in next to the bed at night and have it running all night plugged in. in the morning i unplug it and use it to watch my baby during both of her naps during the day (about 2 naps of 2 hours each) and then again when I put her to bed and am still awake before I go to bed (roughly another 3-4 hours). The monitor lasts, with the display on and sound on, the entire time. and I dont plug it in again until night. So thats GREAT battery life.- UI: since all the others had actual tactile buttons for everything it was a little bi to get used to it, but as soon as i did, i liked the interface controls of this much more than the others. Sleek and easy to navigate.Only Con:- My wife liked that the other monitors had a visual light on them to indicate sound (so if you are showering and baby is sleeping you might not hear the baby, but you could see they were making more noise). But while that may be true – you can set an “alarm” tone for the monitor if there is loud noises from the baby, and that tone can be set loud enough that you DEFINITELY hear it over the shower or doing dishes etc… (good idea to not sleep with that tone on full blast – it will scare you awake). Some of you may have been swayed by the “Top Rated” Amazon baby monitor – well if you start to look over the reviews, you will see that they basically “paid” for those reviews by offering a free 2nd camera to anyone who left a 5* review in the past. Something Amazon has stopped by not allowing more reviews on that post (temporarily) – and something I wish i would have done more digging to uncover before I bought a baby monitor. Anyway, a few months later and a broken baby monitor that the seller didn’t want to help with, I finally gave up and just had to buy another one. I left a 1*review for that monitor because a monitor that constantly cuts out even in the SAME ROOM is basically worthless.
