I bought this to keep my Cocker Spaniel Mix in the kitchen when needed. It is easy to install and well made. It does not damage the walls. I pressure mounted the cups to the walls and did not screw anything to the walls to prevent damage to them. It has a secure self-locking mechanism. It comes with an extension for wider spaces. I like that the door will stay open when you want it to and that it will open both ways. This is a good value and looks nice.

I needed dog gates to segment my home to minimize areas to monitor for dog mess during the housebreak phase of my Toy Fox Terrier Rocky (pictured). Local pet stores were a joke…they all wanted $100+ for even the most minimalistic gate, and many were just not-so-cheap, but “cheap” plastic. Some were wood. I found this mostly metal gate on Amazon and risked buying two for less cost than single instances of other gates. The features its ad documents are absolutely true. There is no assembly required except to slide four width adjusting screw pads into four holes…top and bottom left and right. Hand tightening is all that is required to install in a doorway, though a level to ensure that the gate is plumb should guarantee a proper auto-closure. The gate does remain open when opened to somewhat less than 90 degrees (pictured) and does swing shut automatically at lower angles. This gate is a must-buy steal!!There are four additional plastic caps that can be screwed to the door frame to keep the pressure pads from slipping. They recommend their use at stair tops, but I found they can help one enamel-painted door frames, as an accidental kick to the gate in passing can dislodge it without them. The multi-step opening procedure (slide handle, lift door, swing open) is easier than it sounds, and may outsmart the most ingenious child, and definitely my dog! This gate is inexpensive in comparison, very sturdy, and fits a range of common-width doorways without the need for the additional optional extensions.July 24, 2024 Customer Service update…One of the multiple gates I ordered was received with a small defect. One thumb wheel used to tighten one of the four corners during installation was cracked and spun around the nut it contained. I requested the small replacement part. For whatever reason, the company was unable to send just the broken part, so they shipped an entire replacement gate without the need to return the original. Now that is a company that stands behind their product!! So, I now effectively have my own set of replacement parts should anything else go wrong with my gates. Thanks, Topek, Inc.

We purchased this about a year and a half ago and it hasn’t budged. The setup couldn’t be easier. You place this where you want it and adjust four feet to keep it in place. Then you make a minor adjustment to get the door latch spacing the proper width and you are done. We haven’t had to adjust it a single time since putting it up. We use ours at the top of our basement stairs to keep the dogs trapped. I’m sure it would work amazing for small kids as well. The mechanism for opening the door requires two different motions that would prevent children from being able to operate it. This was a great solution for us!

This gate is so easy to use, fits right in the door casing. I can even close my door with it installed!! So much easier than having to remove a gate or climbing over to get in or out of an area. I recommend to anyone needing a baby/pet gate. Just push the button, door opens and you walk through. It will close itself automatically. Very sturdy, nice appearance, all around a great product.

Easy to install. Great product, easy to use. Very sturdy. Great height. Keeps the baby safe and the dog on the other side.

The media could not be loaded. I hate installing gates. They usually take forever. We got this for our 31″ hallway leading to our kitchen to keep our pets out from cooking. It was easy to install with perfect alignment. It took me 15 minutes and I am a person who is not the best at installing things around the house. It had no missing parts, holes, or issues with the parts. It looks beautiful and is secure and sturdy. My only complaint is to read the instructions and don’t cut off any zip ties! I almost cut off the one zip tie that you need to keep on until after you install.

I returned this, not because there was anything wrong with it, but because I needed more width of coverage than this size gave. I’m VERY pleased with the wider gate and the nice wide walkthrough, the fact that it closes by itself unless it is pushed back 45 degrees to the wall and then it stays open. The tension screws are a bit difficult, especially the ones at the floor. I have to use a big vice grip but someone with good hand strength would have no problem tightening the tension to keep this gate up and functioning. I do recommend.

As indicated, I ordered 2 gates one had the extensions on it and that’s the one I installed first. This one was simpler because it did not have extensions and aligned fairly easily between the door facings. I didn’t realize that I had one end up a little too high off the floor. I’ve finally fixed that by unscrewing things a bit and repositioning the right side. The pictures of the gap/opening of the gate are from the extension gate assembly but it’s the same either one.Being a bit “old school” I had a bit of difficulty figuring out how the Threaded Spindle Rods would hold, because they just slipped in and out of the holes for them in the gate. I expected them to be affixed to the gate then screw onto (against) the surface of the walls/door facing. When you rotate the white wheel on “the adjustment bolts along the threading” in order to “shrink the space between the adjustment bolt and rubber foot”, that creates the blocking force for the bolts against the Gate Frame. Ingenious new school.I purchased the small “Wall Nanny” blocks from Amazon to go against the wall in order to protect the walls and door facings that were involved. This gate not having extensions and being installed by myself, the Wall Nany blocks were easily contained with working the bolts to help hold them by alternating the adjustments. As mentioned, I installed both gates myself (and was really exhausted when I did that as it was late). This gate will require either reaching down to the floor or getting down on the floor to work with the bottom part of the Gate Frame and bolts. I reached down from a sitting position for this one, which explains the gap I didn’t see until after-the-fact.On this gate I did not cut the tie that held the gate to the frame. I didn’t see the notice on the one with extensions and cut it pretty much first thing. That just made the one with extensions very unwieldly. However, it is manageable if you do inadvertently cut the tie. Just troublesome here and there because the gate can swing while you’re attempting to balance everything and get it installed. With extensions it was also that the extensions were unwieldly at times.Closing the gap was a little confusing for me. There is an embossed line on the part that fits somewhat inside the Lock Slot. If it is not aligned properly, the top part of the gate can be pushed open. I noticed the little piece in the lower part seemed to hang in there but it is tiny. With it aligned properly (the embossed line just inside the slot), you will need to properly squeeze and lift the handle in order to open the gate. The gate swings both directions, will stay open at a 90 degree or more angle to the gate frame. It will also close automatically if not at a 90 degree angle or with a small nudge. Because I have a small dog who could be injured by the gate and a large dog who would just freak out if it moved, I have a bungee cord holding the gate open at night where they access in and out of the room.I am tall and more padded than I wish, so for a while the gates felt very close when I walked through them. I had a balance problem for a few days and had to watch the frame piece that is exposed when the gate is open. If someone has issues with balance or stepping, you might consider that before purchasing. And, of course, I move stuff around fairly often so it either has to be lifted over the gate(s), take the gate(s) down or just leave that kind of stuff where it is. ha ha. I’ve adjusted to walking through the gates now. I installed them December 28th. And, my balance problems have also resolved so I’m not intimidated by the frame on the floor with the open gate.I knew this gate was white and ordered it. The picture on the extension gate was a light brown and I really wanted white. I was pleased when white showed up. I still do not see an option for color on the ordering of that gate.Okay – I was looking to write a review on the gate with the extensions and the review I just wrote pops up. My review still here, I’ll just add to it. You can see in the picture with the dog that I have arrows pointing to the place where the “anchors” are somewhat installed. I have been looking at those for days and when I put a hand on them (ingress/egress) the anchors move. In addition, I had installed the gate with a little bit of a lean towards the direction of the dog. (I had balance issues then, so that might account for the gap and the lean of the two gates.)As I was working on it tonight, I observed the extensions on the floor as I screwed and unscrewed the bolts towards/away from the wall. That made me take note of the top of the extensions. After having fixed the lean, I started over again and flipped the extensions bottom-to-top. Yep, they were upside-down. BUT very much correctly aligned and easier to deal with the anchors at that point. The carpet hid the bottom of the frame from me otherwise when I installed them. So, let’s see, what else? Other pictures? I think so. A couple out of order but they don’t reposition without deleting. What made this gate unwieldly to install was my inadvertently cutting the tie that held the gate to the frame, the extensions would not stay in until I used the anchors (had I used them properly then I wouldn’t have had to redo this after-the-fact). Things just kept flipping and falling. For that, a second pair of hands would have been nice. Other than that, I think that’s it. I’m just curious if this will be in the final review or if I’ll have to add something later. You can see the Wall Nanny blocks in many of the pictures. I went with the smaller ones because I had baseboards and door facings involved. Being smaller was also less obvious for the ones on the wall. These were installed December 28th and when I redid things this evening (1/8/22) I did not see any reverse markings of “Wall Nanny” on my wall nor impressions of the blocks. The gates are made in China “to USA” I believe the boxes noted. “Wall Nanny” blocks are made in USA.

This is a lifesaver. I have five dogs and getting in and out of the door without them getting out of the door too was a pain in the butt. I was using a traditional wooden baby gate to keep them confined to the kitchen when I would be at work but getting them all in the kitchen at the same time without any of them running out as I’m trying to get the baby gate up was so time-consuming. And then I would have to take a step stool to climb over the baby gate to get out the door to my house. The dogs also pee on the baby gate which then soaks into the wood. These baby gates solve all those problems. It is so easy now to get in and out of the house and separate the dogs while they eat (two of them happens to be separated from the rest of the dogs because they steal everybody’s food). Cleaning urine off the gate takes seconds, the door swing both ways, the doors stay open when you want them open, the doorway width is spacious for us chunky folks, installation for both gates took less than 5 minutes (and that’s saying a lot because I can’t assemble for crap) and the height is perfect for bending over the gate and picking up or putting in my dogs. I did not install the wall cups because it’s so sturdy without them, even when multiple dogs are jumping up on the gate. These gates are worth every penny. It makes life with all my dogs so much easier. This is one of the best pet purchases I’ve ever made. If I could rate it higher than five stars, I would. I will be buying more for sure.

We bought two and use them as pet gates. I literally installed both in about 15 mins and that was after reading the instructions. Follow them and DONā€™T cut the tie holding together the door until you are done. Apparently it will cause the installation to be more difficult. The gate is sturdy, looks great, was adjustable to both of our doorways, and we could still close the doors with the gate intact. I have weakness and trouble gripping with my hands and had no problem at all tightening it. We didnā€™t use the screws or permanent mounting accessories because it worked as needed with just pressure. It also comes with cups to protect your walls. The gate is easy to open and close. You just pull the ā€œleverā€ back and lift. It opens in or out. YOU WILL HAVE TO STEP OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE GATE WHEN YOU GO THROUGH THE DOOR SO DONā€™T TRIP. This is especially important for the elderly. Also, you can move it if you need to but you will have to adjust the door again so that it will operate correctly. Other than that, this was a great deal and I am happy with my purchase.
